Fifty-Six Floating Slips on the Black River

THE MARINA

The Basin

LHBC's marina occupies a protected basin off the Black River at 108 Alabama Avenue in Lorain, Ohio. The basin is fully enclosed by a breakwall and the river banks, providing calm water even when conditions on Lake Erie are rough. From the marina, it's a short motoring distance down the Black River to the harbor entrance and open lake.

The marina features 56 full-service floating slips. Floating docks mean your boat rises and falls with the water, keeping your vessel properly fended at all water levels — a significant advantage over fixed piers in a tidal-range environment. All slips have 30-amp shore power and fresh water at the dock.

The marina is accessed via a security-code gate for members. Guests arriving by water should hail the dock on VHF 9 or call ahead to arrange a guest slip.

Slip availability changes seasonally. Contact the dock master for current availability and pricing. Slips are assigned by the board based on membership status and vessel fit.

Slip assignments are made based on vessel fit, membership status, and availability. Active members in good standing have priority. New members may be placed on a waiting list for preferred slip sizes during peak season.
